Oglethorpe County School System Residency Verification
The Oglethorpe County School System will once again conduct a residency verification process for students entering kindergarten, 3rd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade for the upcoming school year.
Students entering these grade levels must provide updated proof of residency prior to the start of school in August. Residency verification must be completed before students can be assigned to a homeroom or receive class schedules.
Traditionally, proof of residency has only been collected when a student first enrolls in kindergarten or transfers into our school system. As responsible stewards of taxpayer resources, we believe it is important to verify residency periodically throughout a student's educational career. This process helps ensure that local tax dollars are used to serve Oglethorpe County residents and students who appropriately pay tuition.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Acceptable Proof of Residency
Please provide one of the following documents:
• Current mortgage statement
• Current lease or rental agreement (subject to verification)
• Current utility bill (electric, gas, or water only)
Residency Affidavit
If you do not have one of the documents listed above, please call 706-743-8128 in July to schedule an appointment to review residency affidavit requirements and complete the necessary paperwork. Please note that residency affidavits are valid for one year only.
How to Submit Your Documentation
Proof of residency may be:
• Dropped off at your child's school anytime before June 9 or after July 20, or
• Submitted anytime electronically using the appropriate link below.
Important: If you have children in multiple grade levels requiring verification, please complete a separate form for each child, as submissions are routed to different schools.

Your participation is very important as the strategic plan is our road map for the year. We encourage parents, community members, staff, and middle and high school students to come be a part of this important day.

Braylon Reese Hull is a member of the Oglethorpe County High School Class of 2026!
Braylon is known for his kind heart, compassion, positive outlook on life, leadership, and unmistakable sense of style. He was named "Best Dressed" as a senior superlative by his class. He has always been completely himself in the best way, earning kind remarks and accolades from teachers, coaches, and others throughout his years in school and sports.
Over the years, Braylon participated in rec basketball and baseball, travel baseball, middle school baseball and basketball, and high school baseball, playing on JV and Varsity.
During part of his senior year, he participated in the work-based learning program, holding positions at a local restaurant and in the family BBQ business.
In his free time, Braylon enjoys gaming, attending concerts, and skateboarding. Through these interests, he has developed new skills, built lifelong friendships, and truly lived his high school years to the fullest —learning and making memories that will stay with him for years to come.
In the fall, Braylon plans to attend Georgia Southern University, where he will pursue a degree in Marketing and Fashion Design & Merchandising.
Congratulations Braylon - Class of 2026!

What an incredible night to be a Patriot! The celebration of the Class of 2026 was simply incredible!
Thank you to our high school administration and counseling team, who had to pivot from our traditional graduation plans and create an entirely new experience in less than 48 hours.
Thank you to our incredible technology staff, who worked tirelessly to make sure everyone could watch and participate. They attended practice, learned new systems at the Classic Center, and handled every challenge all in stride. The livestream link is included below for anyone who would like to watch the ceremony. The beginning includes a tribute video that played as guests arrived. While the livestream did not capture the entire video, a separate link is also included. It features the 8th-grade tribute slideshow, senior photos, and highlights from Senior Day activities.
Thank you to Maurice Freeman, who once again photographed our graduates as they received their diplomas and has made those photos available free of charge. The link is included below. Please feel free to download, share, and enjoy them.
Thank you to our Communications Department (consisting of one very part-time person!) for handling all communications and producing the tribute video. Because of this work, our parents, staff, students, and community stayed informed every step of the way.
Thank you to the Classic Center, especially Holly, who helped with planning and stayed on top of every request. The staff at the Classic Center made the evening special by taking care of countless details behind the scenes.
Thank you to our Board of Education for your unwavering support. When I suggested moving graduation and exploring whether it was even possible, I received nothing but encouragement and, as always, offers of “How can we help?” This board continues to show up for our students, our staff, and our community.
To our parents and community—thank you for supporting the decision to move graduation. It wasn't the traditional ceremony many of us envisioned, and yes, for my final graduation, I also wanted to walk across Patriot Field one last time. But as the Rolling Stones and Mr. Sampson reminded us, “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.”
There were a lot of moving parts to this graduation, and its success was truly a team effort. A HUGE thank you to everyone who played a role—big or small—in making this event such a memorable and successful celebration for the Class of 2026. Your hard work, flexibility, and dedication did not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for all you did to make the evening special for our students and families.
Finally, to our graduates—you showed up! You arrived at practice on time, listened well, and represented Oglethorpe County with pride. Because of you, graduation went off without a hitch and became a night we will never forget.
I have said it before, and I will say it again: We have the most amazing community.
Thank you, Oglethorpe County!
