We are so excited about the move to the new elementary school, and I want to share two opportunities for our parents, students, alumni, and community members.
The first opportunity is a legacy brick: When the OCPS building is demolished in January 2025, bricks from the school (dating back to the original build in 1955) will be used as patio pavers in a pavilion to commemorate the original Oglethorpe County Consolidated School. The bricks will be preserved, cleaned, and engraved in the spring and will be placed in the pavilion by the time of the ribbon cutting in May 2025. The deadline to order bricks is Friday, January 10, 2025.
There are three (3) ways to place a brick order:
1. Click this link to place your order: https://www.oglethorpe.k12.ga.us/o/ogs/page/legacy-bricks – you can then pay online, or drop off your payment at our central office.
2. Download the attached form, and mail it back to us at our central office – 735 Athens Road, Lexington, Ga, 30648.
3. Stop by central office and complete the form and payment.
If you are paying online, click this link (https://athensareacf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=4762) and follow the instructions for "One-time Donation Amount.” In the "Donation Description," please write in what you ordered.
Cash or checks can be brought to the central office or mailed to: Oglethorpe County Schools Central Office, 735 Athens Road, Lexington, GA 30648. Please mark "Legacy Brick Account" on the check.
The second opportunity is to order a legacy t-shirt. We have short sleeve and long sleeve shirts available in adult and youth sizes. These commemorative shirts have the dates of the three schools that occupied the building from 1955 to 2024. To see the shirt, please click the attachment. To place a t-shirt order, please click the link below, or drop off the attached order form with payment. Orders close on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
