STAR Time
Students Taking Academic Responsibility
Did you earn your STAR?
This year the teachers and students at Oglethorpe County Middle School are excited about trying something new! Every Friday, students in all grade levels receive STAR time during their last Connections class. STAR time provides an opportunity for students to receive additional individual or small group instruction from their teachers and reward time for students who are doing well in all classes. Students who are missing assignments or have low or failing grades can complete missing work, makeup work from an absence, practice skills missed on a test, or get extra help on a difficult concept. Students who don't need the extra time for academic purposes have an opportunity to choose how to spend their STAR time. They may go to one of our two computer labs, read in the media center, or play on the playground or gym. The times for each grade level vary, but it is during either the first or second connections time.
Work hard, keep up with your assignments, and study for your tests! Next Friday, everyone will be asking, "Did you earn your STAR?"
